Alida is a wife, mother of four, and K-12 educator that has served in numerous educational capacities and settings over the past 20 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Middle Grades Education from Walden University. Alida’s career started in Education as a Middle Grades Language Arts Teacher and she has also taught Middle Grades Math and K-5 Gifted education in the state of Georgia. In Ohio, She taught Middle and High School Life Skills and served as a charter school administrator. In addition to her teaching and administrative duties, she has also served as PTA president, a Parent Trainer for Columbia Heights Public Schools, and a Teacher Trainer for Minneapolis Public Schools. As co-chair of the Education Work Group of the African American Leadership Forum in Minnesota, she worked on AALF’s Creating a Public Mind Campaign and was selected as their representative to participate in the Minneapolis Education Idea Exchange, allowing her to visit and examine the work of schools in 3 different states.
